I'm having a hard time getting as excited about this movie as most people. I found it adept movie-making with an absolutely disturbing undercurrent--not uplifting at all. Here's a reviewer who felt similarly.

I don't know - I didn't read the whole thing, but it mostly seemed to find fault with the movie for not promoting virtue, uplift, and celebration of the good qualities of India. What, are we in Stalin's Russia? Do movies suddenly have an obligation to plug a values agenda? Certainly, don't like the movie, if you don't - but not for these reasons!
